Highlights of Our Activities
Agile Defense Runs to Support Our Nation’s Heroes!
The Navy-Air Force Half Marathon & Navy 5 Miler was voted as one of “The Year’s Best Half Marathons” by Runner’s World Magazine, and we are lucky because this race is in our own backyard. This year marks the 4th Annual Navy – Air Force Half Marathon & Navy 5 Miler. For the 3rd year in a row, Agile Defense participated in this fundraising event.
Employees of Agile Defense, who support and honor all branches of the military, have decided to participate in this event. Agile Defense will support two teams; 1) Half Marathon Team and 2) 5-Miler Team. In addition to participating in this race, our runners are busy raising funds to support the Fallen Heroes Fund. Agile Defense is proud to announce that it will match every dollar our employees raise for the Fallen Heroes Fund.
Agile Defense's Team Feed Campaign
We are setting the table for a hunger-free America. No one should go without a meal, yet Feeding America estimates over 54 million people in America will face hunger this year and we want to help. We have started this fundraiser to allow children, families, and seniors to sit down at the table and share a meal.
Every $1 donated helps provide at least 10 meals. It only takes a little to make a big difference. Will you help the fight to end hunger?
In 2017, Agile Defense joined the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Adopt-A-Highway program, helping preserve the beauty of Fairfax County. We “adopted” the mile-long stretch of Sunrise Valley Drive just outside our corporate headquarters in Reston, VA. Through this program, we commit to performing at least two trash pick-ups each year. Agile Defense HQ employees have already donned their orange vests twice in 2017, in May and November. During these pick-ups, we have rid Sunrise Valley Drive of more than 20 bags of trash, and we look forward to continuing the tradition in 2018! Make sure to look for our dedication sign once it is placed on the road early next year.
The Virginia Adopt-A-Highway program began in 1988 and is one of the largest programs in the country. Adopt-A-Highway volunteers clean nearly 12,000 miles of highway each year, more than 20 percent of Virginia’s state-maintained roads. Our efforts make a real difference in our environmental footprint and help raise awareness to passing motorists.
Agile Defense is passionate about giving back to our community, be it to children in need, victims of natural disasters, or charities and causes that are close to our family’s heart. Each holiday, we feature a drive for “Toys for Tots” at our company holiday party. This charity, run by the U.S. Marine Corps, collects unwrapped toys for donation to underprivileged children in our community. In 2017, we also organized a relief fund for victims of the hurricanes that devastated our country. We not only made our own corporate contribution, but also matched our employees’ donations dollar for dollar.
Agile Defense also recognizes causes that are important to our employees. We have donated to or sponsored countless fundraisers and events, such as robotics competitions attended by our employees’ children. Each year at HQ, our employees also vote on a charity to receive the full amount of our office snack funds. This year, we are donating to Paws for Purple Hearts, an organization that helps pair wounded veterans with service animals.
